Microchipping

It is a legal requirement that all dogs are microchipped by the time they are 8 weeks old. We offer a free microchip for all puppies and kittens taking part in our vaccination club.

Pet Insurance

We strongly recommend the principle of pet insurance as there is unfortunately no NHS for our pets. Pet insurance can help with the cost of unexpected treatment and long term illnesses. When choosing your policy we advise not to do so solely on the basis of cost and to examine all small print fully.

At Martin Veterinary Centre our experienced staff will complete insurance forms as a complementary service to our clients.

With all insurance cover, direct claims made at the discretion of the veterinary practice and normally we would ask clients to settle bills with us before claiming from insurance policies.

Pet Travel Scheme

We can assist in providing rabies vaccinations and filling out passports.

We always recommend that clients know the specific requirements of their journey as the rules for pet travel can differ from country to country and always check the DEFRA website for the latest government advice (https://www.gov.uk/take-pet-abroad/overview).

For further information please contact DEFRA via PETS helpline on 0370 241 1710 or pettravel@ahvla.gsi.gov.uk

Prescriptions / Repeat Prescriptions

Prescriptions

We can issue prescriptions for our clients to buy their medications elsewhere. The practice cannot vouch for the safety or the quality control of any medications not purchased from Martin Veterinary Centre.
There will be a fee for issuing each prescription.

Repeat Prescriptions

In order to re-dispense Prescription Only Medication, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons code of practice indicates that pets MUST be under our REAL care.

For most pets this involves a professional re-examination at regular intervals for your pet’s benefit.
These consultations are normally charged at a reduced rate and most long term medications require a check-up every 3 months.

In older pets especially, things can change relatively quickly and many medications can have side effects.

Puppy Parties

"Puppy Parties" are run by our experienced veterinary nurses. Contact us to find out more.

Please be aware due to the ongoing pandemic, we are not currently running puppy classes.
